As a part of fulfilling the social obligations, Ernakulam District Co-Operative Bank has set up the EMS Co-operative Library at Bank Head Office Building at Kakkanad. Sri. A.P. Varkey (Former Dist. Secretary of CPI[M]) inaugurated the Library on 22^nd October 1999. Initially we started with 100 members and 5000 books. But its growth was unimaginable, after three years the library graph becomes 2100 members and 20,000 books. These immense responses from the public urged us to expand its activities.

        In 2003 December 14^th the Library was shifted to new building at Mavelipuram, near to bank building. Sri M.V. Raghavan (former Minister of Cooperation) inaugurated the new 3-stored building surrounded by a sprawling landscape of above two acres. That step was a landmark in library history. Presently library holds 5200 Members and 60,000 books. This library has grown as a center of knowledge in every aspect. Members of the library can enjoy reading books of their choice in the calm and quite surroundings provided by the library. Breaking the barriers of local area, Researchers, scholars and students from distant places visit our library for referring rare, valuable and costly books.

Building Structure:- The elevation of library building based on traditional construction style of Kerala, holds 3-stored building with 13800 sq. feet area. Ground floor houses Personal Collections of Prof. M. Krishnan Nair , other Lending Titles and one meeting hall. First floor (Entrance floor) houses A/c Internet/Multimedia and Reference room. One hall is set exclusively for Malayalam & English Literature and the other spacious reading hall for dailies & periodicals. Second floor is separately designed for children, contains theater, Indoor games center & cafeteria.     

Library Statistics:- As our library stock numbers in titles: 60,000 (Malayalam:13000,Childrens:10000,Refrerence:1900, Other Lending titles:35100), Magazines: 100, Popular dailies:15, CD ROMs: 1000, we have the excellence of service to more than 5200 members ( Life Long:1087, Family:580, Institution:15, Ordinary:3518)  in the state.

Vision and mission:- In the era of IT revelation Management of knowledge and value added informations are very important. To develop EMS library, as a center of excellence is the mission we under take. Developing reading habit among the public providing adequate materials and facilities.   We cater all types of users sufficiently by our services like-Selective Dissemination of Information, Stocking of books & journals at their request, Supplying articles in demand etc.    

Chairmanship:- Ernakulam District Co-operative Bank under the leadership of Adv. M.M.Monaye keep the light of the library. Chairman, General Manager, Deputy General Manager, Section Superintend, Administrative Officer, Librarian and two Board Members of the Bank constitute the Library Committee. Besides One Advisory committee    including selected members of the library are coordinating extension activities.

Library Timings:- Library is open from 1 PM to 7 PM on all Days excepted public Holidays. Our Sunday Timing is 10 AM to 5 PM 

Park Timings:- Morning 5 AM to 8 AM and Evening 4 PM to 8 PM

Sundays and Public Holidays are 5 AM to 8 PM.
